Changelog

Every change to how we analyse a deal, newest first. New features, changes to how something works, and fixes, each with the date it shipped.

4 changes

Improved

  • Pre-screening calibration. Revised the pre-screening prompt against deals the team flagged, so fewer clear mismatches come back as More Info.
  • Report language. Simplified the language in re-analysis notes and investment recommendation reports, and now check them with our Humanizer agent.

Bug fixes

  • Geography pass reason. Deals that met our location rule were sometimes given International as their pass reason anyway. That reason now only goes on deals that actually fail the location rule.
  • Cohort founder extraction. The cohort extractor was filling missing founder fields with placeholder names and profiles. Founders are now recorded only when they’re named on the source page.
3 changes

New

  • Cohort ingestion. Accelerator and demo-day pages posted in the deal channel are split into one deal per company and analysed. Each company is added to our CRM as a prospect, with the person who posted the page as owner.
  • Domain inference from email. If no website is supplied, the founder’s email domain is tested as the company domain (DNS, HTTPS, company name and ownership checks). Used for research only.

Improved

  • Model upgrade. Upgraded to Claude Sonnet 5 and Opus 5.5, and raised output limits so long analyses aren’t cut off.
1 change

New

  • Canva and DocSend decks. Decks shared as Canva or DocSend links are now read directly instead of needing a PDF. A gated DocSend link that opens a folder of several files has every file read.
1 change

New

  • Notion notes in re-analysis. Deal notes written in Notion are included in re-analysis alongside call notes. If the notes are unchanged, the previous analysis is reused.
1 change

New

  • Slack intake. Decks, websites and LinkedIn URLs posted in the deal channel trigger a first analysis.
1 change

Improved

  • Chatbot handoff. Chatbot submissions run through the standard analysis, including companies without a domain. Submissions for the same company from any channel within 90 days are merged. A deal is excluded from its own comparables.
2 changes

New

  • File formats. Added PDF, PPT, PPTX, DOCX and Markdown support for first analysis and re-analysis.

Bug fixes

  • PDF extraction fallback. PDF extraction falls back to a slower, more thorough mode when the fast pass fails or returns too little text.
1 change

New

  • Deck selection. When several files are attached, the deck is chosen by its file name first, then by file size.
2 changes

Bug fixes

  • Native PPTX extraction. PPTX files were being parsed as PDFs, which produced oversized, garbled text. They’re now extracted natively.
  • Scrape retries. Website scraping retries on timeouts, rate limits and server errors instead of failing on the first attempt.
1 change

Bug fixes

  • Canonical deck. New deck uploads weren’t being registered, so the analysis could read an older version. The latest upload is now the one it reads.
1 change

Bug fixes

  • Pass reason mapping. Pass reasons now come from the mandate rule that failed, or, after a full analysis, from the reasoning behind the recommendation. Some deals had been tagged with the wrong reason.
2 changes

Bug fixes

  • Deck reuse on replies. A submission with no attachment that matches an existing deal now uses the latest stored deck, instead of the run stopping.
  • Same-name founder check. Founder research is cross-checked against the background stated in the deck. A profile that doesn’t match is reported as a mismatch and not used.
1 change

Bug fixes

  • No-domain deals. Deals without a website domain no longer cause the run to fail.
1 change

Improved

  • Crunchbase lookup removed. Removed the Crunchbase lookup from market and competitive research.
