Edsemble builds book kits for children aged 0–5 designed to support their development needs. Its subscription delivers age-appropriate books with parent guides and activities, giving families a structured way to support early literacy and development at home.
Duncan co-founded Edrolo in 2011 and led it as co chief executive for 12 years, growing the company to 80+ people, and raising $40m+ from VC funds such as Blackbird Ventures. He also co-founded the podcast discovery platform OwlTail and chaired it for 5 years. Duncan writes a newsletter called Cloud Streaks on living and working better.
Mel co-founded OwlTail in 2017 and ran it as CEO until its acquisition in 2023, building podcast curation out of Melbourne. He studied finance and econometrics at Monash, with a semester at the Guanghua School of Management on a New Colombo Plan Scholarship. Earlier work took in growth at Qnect and operations support at Uber in Melbourne. Edsemble is his second company, sending parents book kits matched to a child's age from birth to five.
Duncan and Mel have done the hard build twice, edtech at Edrolo and consumer subscriptions at OwlTail. Edsemble sits exactly where those two meet.
